A couple of months ago StudioBell + the National Music Centre hosted an event called After Hours – a new addition to Calgary’s nightlife arts and culture scene. The National Music Centre opened its doors from 6:00 – 9:00 pm for an adults only environment. Guests were able to browse all five floors of the music centre while sipping on beer and cocktails. This is far from your typical night out at a museum! There is even a DJ that provides sweet tunes throughout the night.
The National Music Centre is a fantastic place to check out and I highly recommend you go there ASAP. Each floor offers a unique take on Canadian musicians and different musical instruments. Furthermore, there are different hands on stations (interactives) where you can play around and create new rhythms and sounds!
The After Hours vibe only enhanced the experience and allowed guests to explore a new side to the arts and culture scene without the traditional rules of a museum.
My favourite part of the night by far was when we got to have our caricature taken. For a $5 minimum donation to the StudioBell National Music Centre, this interactive pop up station was well worth it and I do hope they have it for the next event.
